About Akima

Akima Kai is an underwater photographer and multidisciplinary artist with over 25 years of experience capturing the beauty, movement, and spirit of the ocean.

Alongside underwater photography, Akima is a wood and resin artist whose work reflects a deep connection to nature and Hawaiʻi’s coastal environments.

Akima also works as an art coordinator for residential and commercial spaces, curating and placing artwork that transforms interiors into immersive, meaningful experiences.

She is the owner of Waimea Blue Gallery on Oʻahu’s North Shore and Waikiki Ocean Gallery, located inside the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, where ocean-inspired art is showcased to visitors from around the world.
